SPDIF
SPDIF (Sony Philips Digital Interface) is a
standard for transferring digital audio developed by Philips and Sony. This
connection allows for lossless transfer of music between digital equipment in 16
or 24 bits with sampling rates of 44.1 kHz (CD-Audio) or 48 kHz (DAT).
There are no losses due to AN Converter or DA (Digital -> Analog).
Various connectors are used:
- 75 ohm coaxial cable with cinch (RCA). This connection is usually
established on current motherboards.
- XLR 3 pin
- Connector Toshlink (optic fiber)
- Mini-jack 3.5 tipped lens (optic fiber)
