Solid Inkjet printer
Developed by Tektronix initially, Technology
Solid Inkjet is similar to both the Laser and Inkjet Standard technologies. The
department printer was bought by Xerox that continues the commercialization of this
technology on different models. Four tubes of ink in the form of wax sticks
(cyan, magenta, yellow and black) can print. The ink is solid. The printing is
done on a drum WICH is in contact with the paper as the standard
laser. When printing, the ink is transferred directly from the drum to the paper
previously heated at constant temperature. This feature allows the use of
standard paper, there is no effect of blotting paper as an inkjet.
The
print head uses 1236 nozzles and can inject up to 30 million bubbles per second
color on the drum. The standard resolution is 600 dpi. As the ink is not ejected
directly on paper but posed by the drum, drying is almost immediate, reducing
significantly theIndeed blotting printing.
These color printers are in competition with the
laser standard colors. The low profile is the strong point of these printers: a
color laser typically requires 4 drums and engineering that goes with it). The
picture quality is superior, it is approaching that of an inkjet but with a
price returns to the page below. As the printing is done in one pass, there is
no risk of color shift upon each other.
