SharePoint (Microsoft)

SharePoint is implemented in different versions Windows Server 2003 and 2008 as additional software to create an Intranet on the corporate network. Different extensions may also be added. It is ultimately a collaborative workspace based on the HTTP to share information like schedules, communicated to staff, ... using software such as Microsoft Outlook client (from the 2003 version). It accepts files ASP and HTML. The Front Page Extensions via license and running a SQL database.

Compared to IIS (Internet Information Service) Also implemented in these versions of Windows, the possibilities are much more basic. If SharePoint allows hosting multiple sites (like IIS), it does not support the protocol FTP or the email addresses (reserved for Exchange). The configuration and the online pages are made directly with an assistant, it is preconfigured on the server.

Microsoft Office SharePoint ® Designer 2007 replaces FrontPage Office since 2007, although no longer part of the suite.
