Hot Plug
Refers to an internal component that can be removed
or added when the electrical power is on.
The majority disconnectable internal components are
hot redundant. In computing, this possibility is especially used in network
servers. Components Hot Plug include NIC, power supply, hard drive (usually SCSI,
SATA and SAS), ... Some high-end switches and routers also use this opportunity
for their internal components. The UPS replacement batteries use also this
feature.
Different External ports are hot plug as the
bus USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 or firewire.
