DMI, Direct Media Interface Bus interbridge Intel
The DMI is the bus used for chipset series Intel
9XX and following (roughly since the latest Pentium IV) for transmitting data
between the northbridge and southbridge (ICH called Intel). It is a serial bus to
1 (for the first chipsets) 4-channel bi-directional allowing a channel data rate
of 1 GB per second in each direction (full duplex) at a total throughput of 8
Giga byte per second on 4 channels. It is also operates as an interface between
the processor I5 and Intel P55 chipset (not all in I7). It replaces the Intel
Hub allowing a maximum bandwidth of 266 MB / s.
