Released from 2007, DDR3 RAM can transfer up to 8 per
clock cycle to only 4 for DDR2. This reduces the clock speed for equivalent
performance but at the expense of latency, but especially to go higher transfer
rate. Speed, RAS, CAS and other parameter are automaticaly detected by
motherboard with SPD.

The other advantage of these memory chips compared
to older memory technologies is the supply voltage going from 1.8 in DDR2 to
1.5, reducing the consumption of close to 40%, aided by a new transistor
technology .
Integrates with the AMD Athlon II and Phenom II using the AM3 socket (also compatible
AM2 + and therefore with DDR2 memory).
Intel integrates in I7 and I5 and the latest Core2 Duo and Quatro (using the P35
chipset).
In version Laptop (SODIMM) these strips use 204
pins to 240 in standard version.
